Martin was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, the second eldest of nine boys. Holy crap, nine boys?!? Yeah, nine boys. He left his ridiculously large man-family and moved to the U.S. near the end of the last millennium.
After a long career on the other side of the camera - as a writer and creative director in various advertising agencies in the U.S. and Australia - he first flirted with directing in 2004. Once bitten, forever smitten, he started shooting full time in 2009.
Martin lives with his wife and two children in Los Angeles - a place that reminds him of Australia but with better weather and less stuff that can kill you.
When not working on a screenplay like 90% of his fellow Angelenos, Martin co-directs commercials with his friend, Peter Livolsi. They call themselves, "Peter Martin".
Martin has just finished a documentary, “6 of 9”, about his brother Kieran who died at the age of 24 after battling a terminal illness, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
He’s also developing a feature film about the last six months of Kieran’s life. Specifically about that one time Martin and his brother Shannon took Kieran to Las Vegas to help him lose his virginity before he died.
